What does Deutoronomy 18:17-22 really say ?According to the New World translation of the holy scriptures :
20 “‘However, the prophet who presumes to speak in my name a word that I have not commanded him to speak or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet must die. 21 And in case you should say in your heart: “How shall we know the word that Jehovah has not spoken?” 22 when the prophet speaks in the name of Jehovah and the word does not occur or come true, that is the word that Jehovah did not speak. With presumptuousness the prophet spoke it. You must not get frightened at him.’
So when somebody speaks in the 'name' of God and the 'word' he spoke does not occur or come true. He, is a false prophet.
The end of the world has been propheciesed many times by jehovah's witnesses. Not just one time..
In the 19th century pamflets went out by Russel Charles Taze that 1914 would be the end of the world.
In 1914 the date had been moved to 1915
In 1916 the date had been moved to 1918
These dates were given other 'meanings' afterwards BUT new dates came out..
in 1920 the end of the world was expected at 1925
in 1925 the date was moved to 1957
in 1958 the date was moved to 1975
If you can read this and you know you are living in the 21st century, you know these dates have passed without armageddon occuring
Jehovah's witnesses have spoken ceveral times in the name of God to announce an event that has not occured..
Charles Taze Russel isn't the only one that has done it, the tradition went on and in 1975 Jehovah's witnesses were quitting their job's, selling their houses, giving al their money to the society and went preaching full time.. Announcing the end of the world in 1975.
Here is an article from the watchtower in the 70's declaring the end of the 6.000 years described in the bible would end in the 1970's or like they have said = 1975
